Romance Writers Weekly

Hello and welcome to our weekly hop. Thanks so much for joining us. Hope you are staying warm!!!!

Here is this week’s challenge:

Is there a place that takes your breath away? Does any particular landscape give you a feeling of joy and inspiration that no other place can? Do you have pictures?

That’s an easy one for me. The ocean. I am so lucky to live within walking distance of the most wonderful view. Depending on the weather and the time of day, it is always the same and it is always different. It never fails to give me a sense of peace. Knowing that no matter what goes on anywhere else, the tide will ebb and flow in its own time, controlled only by the moon. These things are so much bigger than any every day issues or problems.

I can watch the waves for hours and, if I’m lucky, a dolphin will arc above the currents or the tale of a whale will wave a greeting. Birds fly over and dive, float, and lift off again.

And the sound…the soothing constancy…so peaceful, even when the water is decorated with whitecaps or the waves come in at an angle, warning of riptides. I am on land and merely an observer, always wondering what I cannot see, what life exists beneath. It teases my imagination and soothes my soul. I love the ocean and I wouldn’t choose to be anywhere else.
