  1. How do you find the appropriate setting for the story or does it find you?

The settings of my books come from various times in history that appeal to me.  The exception is my contemporary, ‘Texas Summer’ which was inspired by a landscape.  So, I would have to say the setting and I find each other.

  1. What is your support system for your writing, family, friends, other writers?

My husband is incredibly supportive and is also my biggest cheerleader.  When I lose focus, he is the one who gets me back on track.  I don’t know what I’d do without him.

  1. What is the worst writing advice you ever received and how did you deal with it?

Some years ago, I submitted a pilot for a TV show to a well-known producer in Hollywood.  She told me I had no talent and should get a ‘real’ job.  Within a year, my script was on TV with her name attached.  I was angry, but I also knew my work was obviously good enough to steal.

I wonder how Collette Cameron answered these questions.  Let’s go see.  And don’t forget to comment if you wish.

  1. That is so not cool about your screenplay. I once found a highly similar story to The Cheyenne Bride published only a year or so after getting a rejection from one of the publishers I’d submitted to. It did make me wonder.

Supportive hubbies are fantastic aren’t they 🙂
